About Liz

Elizabeth joined the University of Sydney after spending almost 10 years working for the NSW Department of Health both in and outside of Sydney. In both hospital and community health contexts she has provided speech pathology services for both adults and children with communication and/or swallowing difficulties (including those at risk of developing them). In addition, Elizabeth is interested in partnership models of service delivery and recently developed and managed speech pathology projects within a Families First (Northern Sydney) context. Elizabeth was previously the speech pathology department manager at Ryde Hospital and Community Health Service and most recently for Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service. As well as supervising speech pathologists working with adults and children, each of these services also had designated student unit clinics providing clinical experiences for students with adults (Ryde) or children (Hornsby). Elizabeth served as the Northern Sydney Health Speech Pathology Area Adviser for 4 years and for 2 of those years chaired the NSW Health Speech Pathology Advisers Group. She has also represented allied health services at a variety of hospital and wider area forums including the Northern Sydney Allied Health Council. Elizabeth is a strong advocate for the speech pathology profession and enjoys mentoring both peers and upcoming professionals in the field.
