Graduate Program in Sexual Health
A Trans-generational study of the effects of a school-based sex education program on sexual attitudes and behaviour
You are being invited to participate in a study that will explore the effect that school-based sex education programs have had on sexual attitudes and behaviours in two age cohorts (18-25 and 26-70).
This study is being conducted by Ms Allison Macbeth and will form the basis for the degree of Masters of Applied Science (Biomedical Science) at the University of Sydney under the supervision of Dr. Patricia Weerakoon, Program Coordinator for the Graduate Program in Sexual Health, and Dr. Gomathi Sitharthan, Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Deputy Academic Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Sexual Health.
If you choose to participate in this study you will be completing an online questionnaire that takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Participating in this study is completely voluntary - you are not under any obligation to consent. If you do participate, you are free to withdraw your consent and to discontinue your participation at any time without prejudice. Submission of your completed questionnaire will be taken as your consent to participate in the study and, since no identifying information will be collected, once you have submitted your questionnaire, your responses cannot be withdrawn.
All aspects of the study, including results, will be strictly confidential and only the researchers will have access to results. There will be no identifiable information on the questionnaire, and once submitted it will be impossible to know who completed it. A report of the study may be submitted for publication, but individual participants will not be identifiable in such a report.
There are no direct, tangible benefits from participating, but completing this study will give you a chance to review your opinions about sexual health education. Additionally, the answers you provide will contribute to knowledge about sexual health education in New South Wales and future improvement in the content, teaching, and delivery of sex education programs.
You may tell anybody about the study. The more people who complete this questionnaire the more generalizable the results will be and the more potential benefit there will be to the population at large.
