International students

One of the strengths of the Graduate Program in Sexual Health is the establishment of an international academic community of sexologists and sexual health workers.

The Graduate Program in Sexual Health is based on global aims for healthy sexuality, sexual rights and sexual health and presented in a flexible distance mode (on-line). These features make the program particularly attractive for international students. Students can participate in the program wherever they are in the world. The opportunity to participate in on-line discussions with fellow students, lecturers and experts ensures that a true global perspective is achieved.

The courses have been developed by an international multi-disciplinary, multi-professional team with a strong academic background. The program thereby provides an internationally relevant, multi-disciplinary learning experience in human sexuality and sexual health. The program has been designed from the viewpoint that sexual health is an essential part of holistic health and wellbeing. Sexual health care is addressed from the perspectives of preventative and acute care, as well as rehabilitation.

FAQS

Do international students have to travel to Sydney?

The Diploma of Health Science (Sexual Health) and Master of Health Science (Sexual Health) require attendance at a 2 week on campus unit of study (Sexual Counselling Practicum). This unit of study is offered in the second semester (second semester commences in August). It is offered in Sydney in November/December (summer). There is also a 80 hours of sexual health placement. This could be done either in Sydney (or another part of Australia) or in the student's home country. Students will travel on a tourist visa for this purpose.

How do I know I will get the training I want?

The inherent inbuilt flexibility of the graduate program makes it possible to design and adapt the courses to suit your needs. The course coordinators will assist you to choose the units of study best suited to you. They will also discuss your training needs in terms of the sexual health placement.

Can I study full time in Sydney?

The Graduate Certificate of Health Science (Sexual Health) will be also offered in a face-to face on campus mode subject to sufficient student enrollment.

The on-campus program will provide students with an opportunity to participate in the core units of the Graduate Program in as short a time as possible in an on-campus delivery format, while enrolled as full time students.

These courses will be structured such as to provide students the opportunity to continue their learning by enrolling in the Master of Health Science (Sexual Health) by flexible on-line delivery or continue to a research degree.
