The Master of Applied Science (Physiotherapy)
The Master of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) degree is a research degree where the student produces a thesis. Coursework may be required where this is considered necessary to the thesis.
Duration:
Full-time: 2 years (min) - 3 years (max)
Part-time: 3 years (min) - 5 years (max)
Funded course duration for candidates enrolled since 2001: 2 years Full-time, 4 years Part-time.

Doctor of Philosophy
The Doctor of Philosophy degree is awarded for a thesis considered being a substantial and original contribution to the subject concerned. Some coursework may be required, but in no case is it a major component.
Duration:
Full-time: 3 years (min) - 5 years (max)
Part-time: 3 years (min) - 7 years (max)
Funded course duration for candidates enrolled since 2001:
4 years Full-time, 8 years Part-time.

Choosing a research supervisor
Each student will have a Principal Supervisor and one or more Associate Supervisors for their research program to guide and support their program and training. Normally the Principal Supervisor will be a member of staff in the Discipline. Associate Supervisors may be Discipline of Physiotherapy staff or external academic or clinical staff.

Research Facilities and Equiptment
The Discipline has a large research laboratory with facilities for acquiring and processing data. Equipment is available for kinetic and kinematic analysis of movement, exercise, cardiopulmonary monitoring, EMG analysis, reflex testing and the assessment of standing and sitting balance. Equipment is fully computer supported, with a range of analytical software.
The Discipline has a technical officer and shares the use of a three dimensional movement analysis system with the Discipline of Biomedical Sciences.
