Discipline of Occupational Therapy
The discipline of Occupational Therapy is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Occupational therapy is a profession that focuses on, and gives priority to, enabling people’s full participation and meaning in life. It assists people to achieve their goals by focusing on the strengths of the individual or the community, not their restrictions or barriers.
Our graduates work in a wide variety of settings from youth and community centres, to community mental health and aged care services, hospitals, private practices, residential and policy bodies just to name a few. Staff and students of the discipline are active in a number of research projects across a broad range of areas such as children’s play, ageing and adolescent mental health.
