Graduate Profile - Lei Lei Zhu
My name is Leilei Zhu, I started my Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Information Management in 1999 and graduated in 2002. I worked as a Health Information Manager in Australia but shortly afterwards I moved back to China and worked with the WHO Centre for Classification of Diseases as a project officer and interpreter to implement ICD-10 in China, including providing training.
Early 2004, I came to England to pursue my MSc in Health Informatics in London City University. I funded myself financially by working as a part-time clinical coder in a teaching hospital. I finished my Master’s degree in January 2006 and joined the Casemix Service in the Information Centre for Health and Social Care immediately after that. I am now working as a full-time Clinical Classification Consultant to provide my coding expertise in the design and implementation of English Casemix systems.
Salary range: £32,000 - £38,000 (A$80,236 – A$95,295)
