Faculty Scholarships for postgraduate students
Dr George Burniston – Cumberland Foundation Fellowship
Purpose: This fellowship is awarded annually for postgraduate study in health sciences at University of Sydney. The scheme is administered by the Cumberland Foundation.
Selection Criteria: Applicants must hold an undergraduate professional qualification awarded by the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Sydney, or the former Cumberland College of Health Sciences. The successful applicant must have been accepted into a postgraduate program in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Value: The award is a sum of $5,000.

The Helga Pettitt FHS Postgraduate Study Award
Purpose: This grant, awarded and administered by the Health Sciences Alumni Association, provides financial assistance to a new or continuing student enrolled in any course of postgraduate study.
Selection Criteria: Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Health Sciences, and not have been a previous recipient of the grant.
Value: The grant applies to one year of study only. Recipients will receive one payment of $1,500.

Scholarships for Postgraduate Research Students
Students are advised to contact the department in which they intend to work and discuss their study proposals before applying for scholarships. Scholarships are advertised on the Research Office website.

Scholarships available to international research students
There are several external scholarships that are available to international postgraduate students. A list of some of these scholarships which have funded University of Sydney students in the past are given here
Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS)
The EIPRS are scholarships that cover tuition fees only and are funded by the Australian Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST).
EIPRS are awarded annually on the basis of academic merit and research capacity. Students selected to receive an EIPRS will also be provided with the International Postgraduate Award (IPA) payable as a living allowance. The IPA is funded by the University of Sydney. Application forms for the EIPRS are available from May to August every year from the International Office or may be downloaded from the University site. Click here for details.
The closing date for EIPRS applications is 31 August each year.
International students are encouraged to enquire with the ministries of education in home countries about scholarships financed by international organisations such as the World Bank, World Health Organization (WHO) and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
