Master of Health Science (Physiotherapy)
This flexible program provides specialist postgraduate education for physiotherapists wishing to gain qualifications at the master’s level.
It is designed for health care professionals who want:
- advanced academic and clinical skills in specialised physiotherapy fields
- to promote a scientific approach to evaluation and practice, and
- to foster and develop the role of physiotherapy in health care in specialty areas.
Study is available in five specialist streams:
- Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy
- Manipulative Physiotherapy
- Neurological Physiotherapy
- Paediatric Physiotherapy
- Sports Physiotherapy
Admission requirements
To quality for admission you will need:
- A Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) from the Cumberland College of Health Sciences or from the University of Sydney; or
a Master of Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney; or - a Bachelor of Science with a major in Anatomy from the University of New South Wales, or its equivalent, and a Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy from Cumberland College of Health Sciences; or
- equivalent qualifications to those stated above; or
- other evidence of academic, general and/or professional qualifications as will satisfy the Faculty that you posses the educational preparation and capacity to pursue graduate studies.
In addition, you must have at least two years clinical experience in physiotherapy in the area of the specialist stream of enrollment. You must also be able to demonstrate ongoing participation in high quality continuing education in the chosen specialty area of physiotherapy.
