An institute of Exercise Medicine providing comprehensive exercise rehabilitation

for people who are recovering from orthopedic, work related, spinal cord,

& acquired brain injuries or other disabilities.

  

Our Approach

Our program is unique because of the expertise and equipment available. As part of the School of Exercise and Sport Science, University of Sydney we have access to leading edge research and technology. We take an individual approach to exercise rehabilitation and tailor programs that meet the needs of each client.

Our objective is to help clients achieve maximal functional independence and abilities by improving their physical strength, fitness, coordination and flexibility.

What we provide      

Assessment

Comprehensive physical assessment of people with a range of conditions and disabilities including:

Cardiovascular, Muscular strength and Endurance, and Functional capacity evaluation

 

Exercise Prescription

Detailed exercise programs are tailored for each client and these can be followed on our specialised clinic or a community facility.

We also develop challenging home programs, which complement the exercise programs.

 

         

 

Training

Text Box: Supervised training in a fully equipped specialised exercise clinic combined with a regular home exercise program. Most exercise programs consist of Progressive resistance training, aerobic and balance training. Exercise regimes are constantly evaluated and modified over the course of the training period. A sense of community is felt among the group with regular chats over coffee.

 

      

 

Staff

FitAbility is staffed by exercise physiologists. Health professionals from the School of Exercise and Sport Science, University of Sydney are available to complement the services when required
