Continuing Professional Education in Stuttering - CPES

Clinic Visits
Speech Pathologists are able to visit the Stuttering Unit at Bankstown Community Health Centre for a full day (commencing at 8:45am and concluding at 4pm) to observe specialist clinicians assessing and treating clients of all ages. Time is also made available for visitors to discuss their own clients and other clinicial issues. Visits on the dates listed below can be arranged through the CPES Coordinator. Places are limited and fill quickly so early bookings are essential. The cost is $33.00. Visits are scheduled for the following dates in 2009:

Teleconferences
Teleconferences provide an opportunity for clinicians across Australia to talk with experience presenters about the latest research and treatment in stuttering. This year there are two internet discussion groups planned for 2009. The cost is $66.00 per person for each teleconference. The teleconference session begins with clinicians meeting at the local venue and discussing the reading material sent to them. At the beginning of the second hour individual sites link up via telephone to talk in depth about the topic with the presenters other sites across Australia.

Lidcombe Program Seminar
During the 4-hour seminar, participants will watch videos following individual clients through several Lidcombe Program Stage 1 clinic visits. The presenters will lead the group as participants identify and discuss Lidcombe Program components, using the treatment manual as a reference. Emphasis during the seminar will be on the adaptation of the Lidcombe Program to the individual child and family.
The seminar is intended for speech pathologists who have attended the Lidcombe Program workshop and are currently using the Lidcombe Program to treat preschool children. Participants will be required to read the Lidcombe Program manual. Hard copies will be available at the seminar. This seminar does not replace the 2-day Lidcombe Program Workshop.
