Participation by Miao Older People in the New Rural Co-operative Medical Scheme (RCMS) in Sichuan Province, People's Republic of China
Supervisors: Toni Schofield, Ian Hughes, Andrew J. Campbell
This study will explore the barriers to, and opportunities for, enhancing the participation of Miao older people in the local policy implementation process associated with addressing their health needs. It will focus on the experiences of Miao older people (many of whom live in poverty), health professionals and policy makers involved in the new Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme (RCMS) introduced in late 2002. It will be conducted in Yuhe in Gong County in Sichuan Province. Yuhe is one of the areas piloted for the new RCMS.
