Project Summary
The HMinfo project is an ongoing on-line research project funded under the Home and Community Care Program Agreement. It has operated since 2002 as an information service and sector relevant capacity building project. This contract research project is funded by both recurrent (i.e. annually) and non-recurrent (one off) monies with the current contract valid until 2010.
Project Aim
One of the significant aims of the site is to build upon the information and knowledge workers have developed in their day-to-day work, often over many years. It also recognises that people come from a range of disciplines and trades and therefore have different perspectives. It is in the sharing of information and practise from these different perspectives that a common and dynamic knowledge base can be developed and captured on the site.
Project Background
In the year 2000, the NSW State Government undertook a review of the Home Modification program within the State. This review recommended that a shared knowledge base be developed to assist workers to develop common practices and knowledge base. This ultimately became the “The home modification information clearinghouse project (HMinfo)” which is located online at www.homemods.info
The Home Modification Information Clearinghouse project is a free online resource for people who are seeking up-to-date literature and evidence based information on Home Modifications. The site has an extensive online library, annotated web links and publications, as well providing an online space to share and seek information with peers via discussion forums. It also has information on training and events that would be of interest to community workers, occupational therapists, builders and architects interested in home modifications and accessible housing.
