David Kennedy
Associate Professor David J. Kennedy is a member of the Ageing, Health and Services Research Team in the Faculty of Health Sciences at The University of Sydney. Prior to moving to The University of Sydney in July of 2007, he was a senior lecturer in the School of Organisation and Management at the University of New South Wales. Whilst there, he was also a Research Associate with the UNSW Research Center on Aging and Retirement (RCAR).
He holds five university degrees including a B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) from Assumption College, a M.S. and a M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, and a M.P.S. and a Ph.D. from Cornell University.
At The University of Sydney, he is the 1st Chief Investigator on an ARC Linkage Grant valued at approximately AU$1.5M that is conducting a triple-bottom line investigation of independent seniors living alternatives in Australia. Associate Professor Kennedy’s longstanding interest in seniors living includes retirement villages and seniors’ resorts, residential aged care, and pre- and post-retirement health and satisfaction. As 1st Chief Investigator, he led the team that recently completed an Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Grant valued at approximately AU$800,000 that investigated the efficacy of a novel tri-modal exercise program in Australian retirement villages.
He has spoken at more than 20 international and national conferences on a variety of topics related to seniors housing. In 2003, he was the Program Chair for the Retirement Village Association of Australia National Conference in Canberra.
