The Faculty of Health Sciences seeks the highest possible level of health for people, in both its immediate community and the wider population, by providing the highest standard of education and research and applying that knowledge to the improvement of people’s health.
About the Faculty
The Faculty of Health Sciences is the largest health science faculty in Australia. It consists of 10 Disciplines , 6 research groups and 2 research centres. It provides professional preparation programs for a comprehensive range of health science professions as well as generic degrees health science.
We are acknowledged nationally and internationally for our quality and innovation in teaching and research and the diverse range of study programs offered to more than 5000 students every year.
Opportunities for students are strengthened by the Faculty’s close collaboration with the University of Sydney’s Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Nursing.
As a leading provider of educational and research programs in allied health, the Faculty of Health Sciences provides a combination of theory and hands-on clinical experience to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to take on challenging positions in industry, health services and research.
The Faculty staff maintain close relations with health professional communities, the industry and government, and also provide health and educational consultancy and research services to the public and private sectors.
Internationally, the Faculty is held in high regard. Inter-institutional agreements have been established with faculties in a number of universities in Asia, Europe and North America. These links involve exchange of information and, where appropriate, students, in a variety of educational development and research initiatives.
This world class research and teaching institution is situated on the University’s Cumberland Campus at Lidcombe, 16 kilometres from the centre of Sydney.
The Faculty’s ultra modern facilities include 17 labs, a specialised Health Services library, and state-of-the-art sports centre.
